Help connecting CD-ROM to onboard soundcard (eMonster 500)

I am tweaking out an eMonster for my father. They are the "gaming" versions of eMachines. I have everything up and running except for the sound on the CD-ROM. The problem I am having is where to connect the audio cable on the motherboard. The CD-ROM was from my cpu and was connected to a Montego II soundcard. I am attempting to use the same audio cable. Do the interfaces for audio cables come in different sizes? There are four or so connectors that may be the connection for the audio cable, but they don't fit with the current cable I am using. I have limited info about the motherboard btw (Napoli2 mb 440bx). The onboard sound is a Crystal CS4280. Here is a picture of the motherboard (scroll down and click on "Click here to see inside!" located in lower right hand corner).

As looking at the pic you indicated... to the left end of the cpu slot and up about an inch or so, of the 3 connectors right there together the 2 that are separated by the smaller one should be the sound connector(s) one is a Cdrom input the other should be an Aux. input and use the small white connector used on cables from MB makers like Amptron... Hopefully you have that adapter on the end of your cable...

Thanks Bartman...

I need to go look for a cable that has multiple adapters. I think I have one in my cpu...

You know what is worse than not being able to figure something out? Figuring out half of the problem...

I was able to locate a multiple adaptor audio cable from my cpu. I installed the cable to the top connector, nothing. I installed in the bottom connector, and I get CD audio from only the left speaker. The speakers are setup correctly and play wave files in stereo. Also, the audio control panel was reviewed to ensure it was not the problem.

Any suggestions?

CD-Audio cables usually have left wire, right wire, and a common ground. Check the cable, the left/right are colored wires and the ground(s) are black.

BTW, if your CD-ROm support DDE, or Digital Data Extraction, you don't need the audio cable (analogue sound) at all. You can find the DDE option in the Multi-media options.
