Help configuring a new Cisco 831

I just got an 831 to get me feet wet in the Cisco world and try to learn more of the CLI and about IOS. I am having trouble configuring it. When I try to make changes through the web interface, like the basic DSL setup they are not applied. The Java progress bar just runs for hours. I can telnet to the router, but it will not show me the running config.

I am new to Cisco and IOS and do not know a lot about it. The documentation I have found on the Cisco site so far is only slightly more informative than the worthless printed docs that shipped with the router.

are you in enable mode when you do the sho run command?

are you actually using the 831 at home or did you just buy it to get familiar with cisco? If all you bought it for was to learn more about the cli/ios/ect, a free emulator and a book would have worked just fine ;x

I will be using it at home for a VPN connection to our collocation facility. That was the primary purpose the company got it for me. Being able to play with it and learn is just a bonus for both of us.
