Help! Computer won't turn on!

I just got back from a vacation to find my pc won't turn on. it was just fine before and now it just won't turn on. when i press the power button the lights (power and reset) blink and then turn off and nothing. the socket (on the wall) is fine, other things work. what's even more weird is that the lights only blink once. after they blinked i plugged the pc in another socket and tried again and it blinked once and died.
Any help or ideas are very welcome.

Were they any thunderstorms or anything while you were gone? You might try another power supply if you have one. You could also try taking everything out but vid card and c drive to see if that helps.

You also might want to check your mobo manual or manufacturers website to see if it's a known issue.
 
Talk to your neighbors about any lightning storms or power surges while you were gone. Sounds like your system got zapped by either or the power source or phone line. If you have a surge supressor is the indicator light still working on it?
