I just got a new case in the mail today, hooked everything up and plugged it in. Pushed the on button, the cpu, hdd, and case fans spin, my motherboard light comes on, but my monitor doesn't "light up" (keeps an orange light instead of going green). Any ideas???

Try resetting your BIOS. Kind of wierd that changing your case would cause that, are all of the connections for power, reset, etc. from the case hooked up right?

i just turned it on and about 20 seconds later the monitor came on. gave me a floppy disk fail so i powered off to unhook the stupid thing. of course now it won't come back up.

just checked and triple-checked all the jumpers. they appear to be fine. the power button works, all the lights work, etc.

i don't see how reseting the BIOS would have any effect, but if there are no other options i may try and do that.

Also, is the PSU any good? You have four drives, I hope it's a quality-name 300W or higher, not a generic.

Try with no drives hooked up to the mobo OR the power supply, and see if it brings up the POST screen in a normal amount of time with the lighter electrical load. Additionally, many SOYO motherboards are designed not to POST unless there is an RPM signal being detected on the CPUFAN1 header, but you can hold down the Insert key at power-up to override this so you can go into the BIOS and disable the feature (it's called FOC, or Fan-Off Control). Or just make sure an RPM-signalling fan is attached to the CPUFAN1 header.

i wasn't aware of that feature on the soyo. in fact, i don't have a fan hooked to that plug. everything is strown out in a mess right now, i will try and test that out tomorrow. thanks.

Ah, confirmed... the board does have FOC. Page 15 and 16 of the manual tell about bypassing it if you need to: manual

perhaps i got excited too soon. after reading through the manuel, the fan they are talking about is the CPU fan. yes, that fan is hooked up to its appropriate plug on the motherboard. tried booting, hitting insert, holding insert, pressing every other button on the keyboard all gave me nothing. i'm out of ideas :(

well, i cleared the CMOS memory (it was suggested in the manual) and changed all the CMOS settings to back how i had them, then rebooted. it took a while for it to come up but it eventually did. i still get a floppy drive fail. hopefully i won't have any more problems.

*edit* with the new 400 Watt PS i got, its saying my 12V is running at 12.8. Should I be worried???

try starting it outside the case. It sounds like the motherboard is shorting against the case. Mine did pretty much the same thing.
