HELP! Computer won't load!

I was trying ICS through my phoneline network and WinXP locked up, so I restarted. Since then everytime I restart I get the WinXP logo screen and the load bar, which fades to an all-black screen, and after that nothing. The hard drive seems to be loading something, but nothing comes up. When I try to run in Safe Mode, the load stops at a file called Mup.sys, located in Windows\System32\Drivers. I have pulled out all my unnecessary cards, drives, and RAM. All I have left is the hard drive, floppy drive, video card, and a stick of Crucial. I even restored the clock multiplier to the original (no overclock). Can anyone help me out here, what happened to cause this and what can I do about it? Thanks.

If you boot from the XP CD, it will give you an option to repair an existing installation. You could try that - there may be other possibilities as well.
