Help...Computer shut-down problems!

Ok, here's the deal...when I shut down my computer, the case lights go off, but the monitor is still picking up a signal. It is a black screen, and after about 30 seconds, the computer starts up again. However, it will shut down perfectly if I unplug the ethernet cord connecting my comp to my SMC Barricade Broadband Router (SMC700ABR). Anyone know why this would happen or have had a similar exerience? Thanks!

P.S. My Old computer doesn't have this problem (it is connected to the router also).

The reason I asked that is there are "bots" out( made by scripting) there on the internet that have strange traits (checkout http://www.grc.com on some nice incidents) such as the one you are experiencing( doubtful maybe its just an APM problem😱) you running ZoneAlarm?

just a little suggestion, did you upgrade the router to the latest firmware? Also did you set up the Wake on LAN thing on your system? That maybe the case... not sure if that helps though.

add: Try to disable the WOL thing

<< Router firmware is updated and wake on lan disabled. >>

You check your logs on your router to see what the activity is(going to /coming from) ?
