My computer was loud so I bought an alpha 8045 heat sink and paired it with a 80mm from http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/alpalheaton.html i got the 31.3 CFM young lin tech fan. According to my SmartGuardian software (Soyo Dragon+) it says its spinning at about 3300. I have a motherboard chipset fan, cpu fan, case fan, gpu fan, a case fan, and the power source fan. Is there anyway to make my computer a lot quieter?

Here is what I did. I replaced all my fans with the enrmax adjustable ones and me and my wife can actually sleep at night again with the computer on. I even attached a 92mm adjustable fan to my Alpha.

what he said.. there's also the Panaflo 80mm L1A fans (24cfm/21dba) at BGMicro.com that can be had for $2.79 each (upto 9 quantity) or $2.25 each (10 or more). their is a $6 flat shipping fee. more you get the more you save. ask anyone, and they would recommend these fans.

but those enermax adjustable fans sure look tempting.. is that translucent pink/purple color the only kind they have? would be cool to have some clear or red (to match my cardexpert gf3 ti200 red pcb). then again, i have 10 panaflos ready to see some action. :)

So far this is the only color they have. They are nice though. They come tailed and with a gold grill and mounting screws, also comes with a 3-4 pin adapter. At first I thought they were a bit pricey, but you add all that in and it's a fairly good deal. Plus if you are looking for noise control and dont have a fan bus, these are the way to go.

It is not all fans, the hard disk most likely makes a lot of noise. If you have a Maxtor, I think they come with software to quiet the drive. Otherwise, you can buy an enclosure which muffles it and acts as a heatsink.

SoTrickComputers sold a blue one when I looked last week. I picked up the purple one and it's great. Very quiet. I May replace all my fans with these as well. Sunon also makes some quiet fans.

i initially thought my cpu fan was loud as hell (and it was) but noticed that after replacing it with a quiet one, my comp was still loud...it was the lousy PSU fan which i still have...time to replace the piece of crap

so if u are replacing your cpu fan in an effort to reduce overall noise, i'd suggest doing the psu too.

i bought a panaflow 80mm fan from bgmicro with a 2 pin connecter(the ones used in power sources) and I tried replacing the power source fan but the damn panaflow wont spin. I'm thinking I got a broken fan and its not worth it to rma it. Does it matter if there is a fan in the power source?
