This is a really long story that I'll try to keep short.
I purchased some components so I could upgrade my rig. Here's what I have:
Asus P4PE Motherboard
P4 3.06 Processor
Zalman 5500CU CPU Cooler
1,024 MB Corsair PC 3200 Memory (2x 512 sticks)
Sony DRU-500a DVD-RW Drive
Pioneer 8X Slot-loading DVD-Rom
IBM Deskstar 45 GB 7200 RPM HD
Enermax 550W Power Supply
BeanTech BT60 Mid-tower Case
Creative SB Live! Sound Card
ATI AIW Radeon 9700 Video Card
Adaptec Firewire Card
First of all, I tried to rebuild this system myself, but I don't think I did it 100% correctly because the LED lights on the case wouldn't work, and the system wouldn't boot up about half the time. So, I decided to send it off to the company I buy PCs from (GamePC http://www.gamepc.com) and have them rebuild it.
I received it from them last Thursday (they rebuilt it in the new case), and I'm having the same hang up problem. What happens is, about half the time I power up the machine, the motherboard won't beep, and the system just hangs. If I turn it off and back on, it will usually boot right. Sometimes after it hangs, I'll be thrown to the bios and there's a message that says: "Your system hung at last bootup because of an improper CPU Speed setting." I've never adjusted the CPU setting, or overclocked anything. It's correctly set in the Bios as 3066 MHz. The machine works great when it actually boots, but this problem concerns me and no one seems to have any answers. Any advice? Thanks.
