hi fellas...

my computer seems to freeze at the same spot during the bootup...the windows xp window that loads before the desktop appears...it always freezes in the same spot, yet i'm able to move my mouse. i've changed RAM and have figured it's not a hardware issue. any idea of what this might be?

your help is appreciated

did it just start happening or did you just ghost a drive to a new one? cuz that's happened to me with a ghosted drive sometimes, but only when going from or going to a WD for some strange reason 😕 had to mess with master/slave positions and jumper settings

Run the WinXP setup/restore option, maybe?

Possibly..I have no idea. I use Avast, though - free updates for life..or until they decide to start charging me, anyway. 😛

Whoa whoa...you changed the RAM and came to the conclusion it isn't a hardware issue? 😕

It could be your CPU, your HDs, your mobo, heck even maybe your vid/sound card.

Just b/c you changed RAM doesn't mean all your hardware is fine and dandy ... lol yeesh.

haha i guess i didn't give a better background...i've always had issues iwth my ram. usually that's what causes all my computer problems, so i figured that was the main culprit.
