I have the GA-7dxr. I AM rather very familiar with
computers with a 2-year degree in computer science.

Ok, now ... the problem ... am attempting to setup a
RAID configuration. I go and create one and then i
turn off the computer after it's all done. When i go
and turn it on it doesn't do anything. it won't turn
on it won't startup nothing. It does a good job of
mimicing the off position.

So it doesn't turn on. I have to clear the c-mos
everytime to get it to boot up. I flashed your BIOS
with the latest BIOS being F9. and same problems. I
can get it to turn on but once i get turn it off it
won't go back on until i play with it some more and
clear the cmos and then it starts all over again.

any clues?

thanks!

do you have extra hdd's to test it on? maybe the raid controller is broke. or maybe your two hdd's are broken?

try that, its a start.

Nocturnal,

i don't think thats it ... it coud be that the BIOS is currpted ... so what i'm gonna do is install an OS and reflash the BIOS using @BIOS.
I took raid off btw .... now it was finebefore i even messed with raid. it was perfectly fine. so i don't know ...

I have come to a couple of conclusions but still have no idea how it happened.

I noticed it acts like the power switch doesn't work. Also the pins where the speaker, led lights and all that go were bent a little. Maybe upon setting it up something gave way. It acts like if you don't have the power plug connected. Nothing happens in both situations.

The only way i can get it started is by "hot wireing it" or by messing with the clear BIOS jumper gets it started. The power button can turn it off but not on.

1) SO maybe there is something wrong with the onboard (the motherboard) power connector.

Also while installing windows XP it crashed with a BSOD upon fresh boot saying there is something wrong.

I did flash the BIOS with a new BIOS from gigabyte to F9 from the modded 7DXR+ F4 BIOS.

2) so maybe something is wrong with the BIOS?

thats all i can think of and all this started with setting up RAID? i don't get it?

thanks!

I dont know if this helps you but are you hooked up to some kind of surge protector? I have this weird turning on problem with my computer on occasions and it has something to do with my surge protector. My computer is hooked up to a an old Tripplite surge protector that sits under the monitor and has different switches to control individual components. Well anyway if i turn on the master switch that gives power to the computer and leave it on for awhile and then decide to hit the power switch on the computer to turn it on it wont turn on. Its just dead. I have to turn off the master power on the surge and leave it off for a minute and then turn it back on and then the computer will boot up. Its the weirdest thing. I thought I had a dead power supply the first time it happened. The only thing I can figure is the surge is going.

it is plugged in and the PSU is fine. I can MAKE IT turn on by messing with the clear cmos jumper. AND it was working fine earlier this morning (4/29/02).

so it's not a power issue. I think it's the BIOS.
