HELP!!!! comp will not boot

my frined cam over with an old 5200 ultra. we put it and it wont boot anymore. we have sense then taken the video card out and still nothing happens. i get a post but it says no boot disk detected. help anyone. specs

sony rx-850
p4 2.4 north wood
512 ram
80 gig hdd

check all connections espcially the one to the hard drive. Just had my bro's computer over and said same error, his problem was an bad cable to the HDD.
 
If that doesn't fix it, then go into the BIOS and ensure that the motherboard's boot options are properly set up and that it's still recognizing the hard drive in the BIOS.
 
well the hdd was fired it would even spinn up on 4 difference power conector. my frined had en extra 120 maxtor laying around so i have have tthat now. it fine now.
