I tried to unlock my 1600+XP using the defogger kit, and now my clock multiplier seems set at 9.0 In the BIOS (Epox 8KHA+), I can select whatever multiplier I want, but when I reboot, it always gives me 9.0

Did I not get the connections right? Let me know any ideas you have. Post them by the ton!

Thanks,
Micah

P.S. I'm going to dinner now, but I'll reply and try all advice in about 2hrs when I get back. I'll post results as soon as I have them. Thanks in advance.

for everyone else that unlocks your XP, i would suggest using a non conductive clear nail polish. it takes a little longer to dry than crazy glue, but atleast you can remove it with nail polish remover and get your RMA. DOnt scrape anything off with a razorblade or such when flattening the nail polish, use something made of plastic. or you could apply the clear nail polish with a toothpick and only apply enough in each pit to cover the pit and NOT anything else. and be sure to use a powerful magnifying glass so you can see what you are doing well.

Warning..when removing the stuff with nail polish remover, dont put a puddle of it on the chip to let it soak, use a t-shirt saturated with it and just keep rubbing and rubbing and rubbing and rubbing...................................................
Itll take a while but it works ! I speak from XPerience. i did this 3rd XP 1600 right, had 2 casualties of stupidity and crazy glue.
