:disgust: I need to clear, then reload good, IDE drivers under Win2000Pro. Somehow, the 2nd channel will not load the Teac and HP drivers to run my CDRW and DVD+RW correctly. I know how to flush ALL of the drivers and force reload of them, but I would rather not if there is a way to just clear the IDE drivers. 1st channel recognizes the HDs just fine, but no optical that I own will setup properly in 2nd channel. BIOS recognizes the 4 drives correctly, so the hardware side is fine. However, in windows device manager, the two opticals come up properly identified with yellow blobs and exclamation points with error 31 saying that windows cannot load the drivers.. yada yada. If I uninstall the drives, shutdown, unplug the drives, restart and shutdown, then plugin and try to reinstall the drives on startup, I get the same end reslut: non-functional drives.
Help, please.

You should be able to just go into Device Manager and delete the IDE devices. However I found that just loading the new drivers over the old one works quite well, esepcially in Win2k/XP.
