System 1:

CPU: DUAL CORE AM2 4200
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GAM61SME-S2 or MSI K9NSGM
Graphics ONBOARD GeForce Nvidia 6100 128MB

System 2:

CPU: Intel E2160 dual core
Motherboard: ASUS P5GCMX 945 or GIGABYTE 945GCMX-S2
Graphics ONBOARD INTEL GMA950 UPTO 224MB

Both systems will have same HDD & 1gb of RAM.

Please refer only to the above systems or anything CHEAPER. Which one you think is better (and why..?) Thanks.

System 1 - The nvidia onboard gfx card is a lot better than the intel one. The cpus should perform almost the same. (I'm assuming your not going to overclock)

Not going to OC. I also thought the gForce 6100 would be better, but I didn't know about the cpu. If you say the above cpu's are pretty much the same, then I guess I should go with the AMD setup.

If you're going to use onboard video, I would avoid the Intel integrated graphics at all costs. Btw, what kind of system is this going to be? It almost looks like an HTPC.

I don't know what's HTPC... The computer is going to be used for office and internet.

System 1 would be the way to go if you are not overclocking. I built a similar system this weekend and it is plenty fast for office work and Internet surfing.

HTPC = Home Theatre PC.

Go for system one, at least it has better onboard graphics.

If you're on the fence, a vote for AMD is a vote for continued innovation and for having a choice next time you build.
