Hello,

So far I've always bought my computers from a manufacturer, I didnt want to damage something or just having to deal with all the proccess of building a computer from scratch. I've done a lot of research and read tutorials, watched videos, etc and I think I'm ready to do it. I already picked the CPU, video cards, motherboard but I cant decide which drives to buy.

Anyway, what I want to do is put (at least) six SSDs on RAID0 using a RAID card. The problem is I can not decide which one to buy; Intel X25-E, Memoright GT, Mtron Pro 7500, OCZ Vertex?... I have a pair of Memoright GTs on the computer I have right now, they are on RAID 0 ICH10R. Comparing them to my vRaptors, well the GTs perform better imo, but when comparing them to the single X25-E on my laptop the GTs dont make a big difference. I've read many reviews and benchmarks and I cant still pick a winner so I need help from someone who does know about this!!

Price and storage capacity are not an issue, I just want to get the best SSD performance wise.

I also want to know what is the best RAID card out there. I was thinking about the Areca ARC-1231ML w/ 2GB cache but if someone knows a better option please let me know, oh btw... if the cache is enabled will its size make a difference?, idk how these things work so pardon my ignorance.

And one last question?. What limits the number of drives? The chipset (Intel X58) or the RAID card or what? Could it possible to have 12 SSDs? I'm not saying I am, just wondering...

Thanks in advance!

Note: I've read that Intel SSDs get worse with time. From my personal experience, I havent noticed it yet. I use it everyday, I love it because its fast and if any I think its getting faster, idk if thats possible but it "feels" faster.

I would say wait for like 3 weeks till the new Samsungs come out. If you cannot wait, I'd have to agree with Blain on the X25-Es.

If you're going to get a controller with dedicated write cache, than you should be able to go with cheap models as there won't be any stuttering.
