I would go for the asus board with usb 3.0 support. Newegg may have some micro atx boards with usb 3.0 soon, but not yet.

Id go with the asus board with the usb 3.0..asus is a fine company with bios updates very frequently..
the gigabyte board is also nice..you will be able to get controller cards for motherboards soon also ..
there is no hardware for this tech yet and prices will be high for the components at first so im going to add the controller card to my dfi setup when i decide to go usb 3.0 and sata next generation..there all add on chips to do the work as there not built into the intel chipset yet so performance should be the same even with a controller card...
the motherboards with this tech onboard now would probubly be cheaper in the longrun than buying 2 controller cards though..i doubt 30 bucks would buy 2 controller cards so if you want to be future proof for a while get the integraded board if your not going to run the new tech for a while then the cheaper will do fine...any of the top tier boards would be fine as performance is pretty even across the board...
dfi's lanparty board is the bomb if you have a windowed case..personally id use that one in my rig but im on 1366/920..
for the cost difference though you might want to consider 1366 as its performance is unbelievable even at stock speeds..coming from amd im blown away by performance difference even in real world useage..
1156 is going to be short lived from what i understand but this is just food for thought as i had to make the choise and im thrilled with 1366..I feel i made the right choise,no question about it..this 1366 rig ive got is the fastest computer ive ever built....
this is just my opinion...
you can get a 1366 board for like $144.00 now so it puts 1366 within reach of what 1166 costs to build..all the 1366 boards perform pretty close even the cheaper boards....

I just bought the P7P55D-E and will get it in the mail today. I also looked at the GA-P55A-UD3P but wanted firewire so I went with the Asus. I'm sure both of them boards will work great for you. It has been some time sence I have owned an Asus because my last two builds have been on Gigibyte boards.

I went with the 1156 setup for the power saving because I only game one to two days a week. So with this set up and my 5870 I will be saving a lot over my last rig in power alone.

Yeah I wanted to wait a few months and do what you're suggesting, go with a 1366 and get an i7, but the graphics card in my current setup just died so I'm in a catch22. I might be able to survive a month or so if the prices are going to drop, but its going to be tough.

My current options are:
1.) Build a new PC
2.) Wait a few months, build a new PC
3.) Buy a replacement graphics card now (on a PCI-E 1.0 x16 slot), build a new PC around that graphics card in a few months

Too save money, I am looking to use my case, power supply, and hard drives from my current setup.

My case and PSU:

Both have been excellent for me and should work for the parts I am looking to use. My current plan is:

More than I want to spend, but I don't want to buy garbage.
