HI, Just got this printer and I tried to print a huge b/w image and it told me I needed more memory. My dilemma is I don't know what to get. I read the manual and it says any commercially available 32mb SIMM with speed of 60-80nsec, 72 pin, 25.4mm or less in height, and output of 32 or 36bit.

I went to to this place www.18004memory.com and they have several. I was eyeing the cheap $6.99 32mb but i'm not sure if that is the right one. The $9.99 seemed like a good one too but again, not sure if this will work. I called them and they flat out told me that they don't deal with Brother printers anymore, only HP.

I went to Crucial's website and checked out their memory, but it costs like $39.

Anyways, can you help me choose the right type of memory at the lowest price? I would be immensely greatful. thank you!

I guess I should clarify what I am confused about. I see on pricewatch under the $6 EDO 32MB 60ns (LINK they have this"32MB SIMM 8x32-60ns EDO - 72 PIN SIMM SNED32U/032/4K (just checked it out, says LImited compatibilty)" from COast to Coast memory ($6.74). Will this work for me? They also have Non parity and 2k refresh, etc. ALl those terms and numbers overwhelemed me, so I'm confused on which to get.

60ns is just the speed

32x8 is the density of the chips and the 8 is the number of them
not sure what 2k refresh is but i do know that the memory i bought was a non parity EDO 72 pin simm

With my 1440, I could only use the 16 MB module. I tried a 32 MB used module, but the PCB was too high to fit in the tight memory area of the 1440. I brought the 32 MB module back to the computer show and exchanged it for a 16 MB module. Regardless of the module you use, ensure that you have enough clearance to mount the expanded memory on the printer and still be able to put the dust cover back on.

thanks for the info. I contacted a place called enet marketing inc.. They are supposed to have 32mb 8x32 EDO 60ns 4k refresh 4 chips simm modules for $7 but when i clicked the buy online button at pricewatch it took me to the same memory but in a pack of two. So I emailed them to see if I can buy 1. so, lets see... =)
