newbie in Athlon overclocking, Athlon 1000 (hopefulty will be @ 1200) on A7V133, choise is:
Thermaltake SuperOrb (dont want it, 'coz of mounting mechanism and hight/noise)
Thermoengine (but not with the Delta, some slower/quiter fan: 31dBA, 30CFM)
GlobalWin FOP38 (aren't those loud?)
GlobalWin WBK38 (same as above)

i want good but not extrieme clloing, availability/choise is very low in the middle east and noise is a concern. so what do you gurus say?

BTW, are there any problems with the pensil trick? its safe, right?

The pencil trick is safe. The only problem is that sometimes the carbon from the pencil lead will sometimes dislodge from the bridges and the PC won't boot anymore until you re-bridge the gap.

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with those HSF's...

The GlobalWin FOP and WBK38s are loud because of the fan. They come with the Delta 6800rpm "black label" fans. Any heatsink that comes with this fan is going to be LOUD.

I would get a WBK38 and try to put a quieter fan on it. The Thermoengine might be a better choice, but I doubt it.

Stay away from the Super Orb I was running it on my Athlon 1ghz it didn't do a good job cooling at all my idle was around 50-55c. I opted for the Golden Gate but went with the loud 40 cfm fan no problems thoughdropped the temp to 45c. :)
