What's the best RAM to get to use on a Gigabyte 7VT600 motherboard if I want to start off with an XP 2400+ or XP2500+ CPU but would also like to keep the RAM should I upgrade to a 400MHz bus chip in the future? If I'd need to replace the RAM to work with a 400MHz CPU I might as well just get PC2100 to save money. Suggestions?

The question comes down to this:

Will an 400MHz bus CPU work with PC2100 or PC2700 RAM without any major problems on this motherboard?

It will work just fine. However you will see the maximum performance possible with PC3200 memory because the PC2100 or PC2700 will be holding your processor back. A good thing to remember is that Athlon processors always work best if they are in sync with the memory, in this case either PC3200 (SC) or PC6400(DC).

Hope this helps! :)

XP2500 + pc3200 will be cheaper in the long run. Please tell me you haven't bought that board yet....look into the nForce2 offerings.
