A friend is giving me his old pc but I need to buy a new graphics card for it. My main intention for this computer is to game with it.

The specs are as follows:

Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80570E8400
RAM - Corsair XMS2 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-6400C5
Motherboard - EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI FTW ATX Intel Motherboard
PSU - hec Zephyr MX 750 750W Peak Output ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power
Monitor - Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24-Inch (23.6-Inch Vis) Widescreen LED Monitor with Full HD 1080p

So far I have been told this GTX 460 is a good choice but I'm not sure I want to spend that much. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] -_-Product

I will buy a card for that much if it is definitely worth it.

I'm looking for your opinions on this card or different suggestions.

Both of those would be great. Fwiw, there are GTX 460s in our very own FS/FT section for ~$125. Not 'super' clocked, but at 1080p with an E8400, it really won't make a difference imho.

Thanks for the replies. I think I like the card 3DVagabond posted best so far but unfortunately they are currently sold out.

Tough choice.

1st of all to offset the slight 'weakness' of the dual core 3Ghz Wolf-dale I would do a little overclocking. Now, the nVidia motherboard chipset wasn't that great of an overclocker fwir. So already you are looking at investing in a losing battle. Specially with the games coming out of today. Secondly at that resolution, a mid grade card will definitely disappoint you if you are looking for smooth frames per second. This is all subjective btw.

If it were me, i would get the 560 Ti but again it's investing in a losing battle, IMO

I would recommend HD5770 for that system, or GTS 450 maybe? (is anything lower than 460 worthwhile anyway?)

Sapphire 5850 xtreme will be perfect. And overclock that processor.
