HELP: chaintech 7sid sis 735 + gainward geforce 4 mx420 -- WON'T BOOT!!!

hey, can somebody help me out? i just tried to install a gainward geforce 4 mx420 ddr (yep, gainward makes a ddr version... not a typo) into a chaintech 7sid mobo (sis 735), and all i got when i tried to start was the video error beeps. i updated to the newest mobo bios and tried again, with no progress. i tried a radeon 7500 in there... worked fine. i tried the mx420 in my other pc... worked fine. so i'm thinkin' incompatibility. do u guys think another mx420 would work okay (just the brand, maybe??) or do u think i should just switch cards and video chipsets entirely? (and DON'T make fun of the mx420 and tell me to get a ti... there's a reason why i bought it.) please... somebody HELP!!!
