It seems that my CD-RW drive can no longer burn CD's - but it can read them. It is a Sony drive, with B's Recorder Gold5 software. I downloaded the freeware DeepBurner, and that is having trouble (not just simple freefare, its older brother DeepBurner Pro is payware that allows more options like CD copying). It can read files on the drive. Gold5 gives me an error as soon as it tries to write saying cords might be loose (and I did test all the cords), and Deepdriver does different things - it did manage to write 300Mb of data - but reading the images, not single image had a header file - all errors. A second try, DeepBurner quit halfway through with a write error.
OK - is this an issue with the lens and that a simple cleaning will suffice, or is the problem much worse. I did change the media earlier today - that is I started to use FujiFilm CD-R's, and has been using Sony's = but I did have a couple of successful burns on the Fuji's - and have used different Fuji's before.
Thank You
NEW: I have updated the firmware in the drive (sony has a nice flash utility), and I just learned that Sony has a test program for their drives, and the test does say there is a write problem - but could the symptoms just be that of a disc that needs to be cleaned?
