Help!! CD-Roms not working...

I just got a new 120gb HD... and as soon as I installed it, my CD-Roms stopped working... Well, they work for a little bit... but then they "short out" and Windows stops recognizing them...

Oh, I also just got WinXP. I'm thinking it might be a power issue... with the HD taking more juice than it used to... (if that's the case)... it's possible that my CD-Roms are just getting old... but this just started happening when I installed the new HD.

Anyone know what I should do?

It's not the Adaptec program problem... I've never used Adaptec in my life... (and since it was on a newly formatted HD, it couldn't possibly be a software problem.)

I checked all the cables and everything was plugged in properly. I replugged in all the power cables to try and make everything have it's own power cable, or at least have them have their own most of the time (i.e. slave HD and CD, 3 1/2 and CD, and primary by itself). it "seems" to work... but, i don't relaly know what I did before to make it not work...

Any other suggestions?
