I bought a Canon A60 earlier in the week before the rebate was out and when I finally opened it to test it out, I realized it had a DEAD PIXEL. So of course, I don't want a defective camera, and of course, all of my local Office Depot's are out of stock.

I'm kind of lost what I should do, I really want the A60 for this price, but I don't want one with a dead pixel. Do you think OD will let me just exchange the camera itself and not the box lacking a UPC?

Bring it back to the store and tell them. I would think it would be ok as long as you still have a copy of your receipt.

Why not take it back to them and tell them that due to the date restrictions on the rebate you already submitted the rebate right away in good faith, but only then realized you had a dead pixel. Explain that you are not trying to defraud their rebate program, but just seeking a working product. If they seem reluctant, suggest that they can cut the UPC off the replacement camera box and tape it to the one you are returning. Keep going up the chain as necessary until you have exhausted all options at that location. Then send an email or call corp. and ask them what to do.

Just have them give you a new camera in your old box, putting the old one in the "new" box.

They don't have any of the A60's in stock. They said they are clearing them out and don't anticipate any new shipments soon.

Just the LCD, but I do. I paid top dollar for this camera, I demand a working one!

You gotta be kidding. One dead pixel on the LCD? Mine could have ten and I wouldn't know. I don't spend time watching that itty-bitty screen. I use it to help frame my shots and that's about it.

It's like, right in the middle of the screen and it is always a vibrant color. :(

Meh, time to go yell at some innocent OD employees ;)

wow...i cant believe you actually care this much. it doesnt take away from your pictures at all, and no one is going to think you arent as much of a dork because your a60 has a dead pixel. why do you really care? that isnt even worth wasting the gas it takes to drive to the store and back. plus, you are going to cause some employees a bunch of hassle for no good reason.

if it was affecting your actual pictures, then i am all for it. but wtf dude? cmon

If I wanted a defective product, I should have gotten a price discount!

I yield for nothing. If I sold you a cup and in the cup there was a small hole, wouldn't you be mad? But, it's only a small hole, not a lot of liquid will fall out of the cup because of the size of the hole.

There's still a hole, I demand a discount!
