help, car got scratched against white painted corner

My sister was moving the car in a very tight garage and got a white painted corner. (Not sure how to post a picture) so now the body part on top of the rear wheel is all scratched.

It would cost $500 to repair it.

Any way I can fix it somehow myself? I am pretty handy but never repaired the body of a car. Any help suggestions are appreciated .

Hard to tell too much without a picture. Worst case scenario, you can get a replacement fender from a junkyard - if you can match the color, you're good to go. Might be cheaper than $500.

Instruction videos for pretty much anything you can think of doing for any car are on Youtube.

Agreed w/ the above on a pic and worst case.

If it's not deep, or dented, rubbing compound may be enough and is very easy.

Let's see if this works

Looks denTed but my sister claims it's not ... haven't see the car yet.
the car is leased so I am not sure diy is smart in this case. I would like only to make it look less bad till we go fix it (in a few years before we give it back!)

Ah. You might have gotten through the paint, but it doesn't look like there's any damage to the fender's structure - at least from that angle.

Get a thing of polishing compound and buff out the little scratches that will buff out, then fill in the rest with some touch-up paint. (You can get a tube from the dealership for <$20. You can put clearcoat over that if you want to be fancy.

It won't look perfect, but it won't cost $500.

Don't do anything until the lease is almost up. Most places will do the inspection so many days before the lease is actually up that way you can get the cost for damages. Then determine if it will be cheaper to have the damages fixed or not before turning it in.

If you plan on leasing another vehicle from the same place they'll also probably wrap the damage cost into the next lease.

500 on the repair seems more than fair. you are looking at repair/prep and paint on two panels and some blending... + a new molding.

I agree with @Zivic . You aren't going to make that problem disappear with just some home items and elbow grease. That's going to need paint stripped, body repaired, re-paint with blending + clearcoat. You're better off leaving it to a professional if you've never done that sort of thing before.
