Hi there,
I was doing my usual fiddle with the PC to improve performance and for whatever reason windows would not run..
All I did was download "scournet" shut down my pc after the DL was complete, return my PIII450 to the usual stable overclocking speed of 600Mhz and windows would not load?
Went back to 450Mhz - same thing..... ;(
OK re-install windows will do the trick....well it did..but now i get this error each time I try to use the internet connection wizard...

"Cannot get configuration information about your computer because of the following error:
Error 12009 occured."

Strange thing is I am connected to the net right now...all othe rprograms work fine and dandy...ICQ, Dwyco, Gamespy and Netscape - which i don't really know how to use very well!
Guess I 'll get used to it though.. 🙂
Never had this sort of problem before..is it just a bad install of win98?
Any ideas guys/girls?

Forgot to say all was working perfectly before...

Netscape is working fine too...it's just the internet connection wizard that gives the problem... so therefore i can't use IE or outlook express..

I'm far more comfotable with Microsoft based programs so would prefer those over netscape products..

Try using Windows updating program & download latest IE5.5 with service pack1.Also there is a new reporting program there that tells Microsoft of any problems you have & will let you know if there is a work around or possible fix with IE problems(The file is less then 300k).

🙂

Won't let me do windows update.... 🙁

I can use all non-microsoft programs right now when connected to my ISP...but nothing microsoft...... 🙁

any other way to get to the microsoft sites? Other than the windows update function?

Go into system information via start button then programs accessories then system tools ,click on tools tab & then Internet explorer repair ,see if that fixes it.
