Help - Can't see hard drive in My Computer.

I installed a new Maxtor hard drive on my computer. I put it as the primary slave and when I go into the BIOS it is detected. When I go into Device Manager in Win XP (Home), I also see it. However, I do not see it in My Computer. I uninstalled it from the Device Manager and searched for hardware again, and it detected it again and said the device was ready for use, but still it is not in My Computer.
