alright ive got quite a problem here. zone alarm causes me to bluescreen, but when i uninstall it i cant get internet access... it leaves something in my system and blocks me out ("for my own safety," of course). how can i clear up this mess?! has anyone else had this problem??

ZA probably left some services running.

Get to Windows Services and disable it. Then look at Windows Start Up and uncheck any entry related to ZA.

After doing so Reboot and delete what ever left of the program files in the Program directory and run a Registry Cleaner.

That is what I personally Do. Your Millage might vary. Be careful

This program let easily Disable or and enable any thing related to windows startup.

This until is excellent to control the AutoRun (just run it nothing to install): Startup Control Panel.

its a weird issue because even with the program not started up (still installed) it controls my internet access. i use hijackthis and have killed everything related to it.. i've looked through my services and don't see anything that relates to ZAPro or zone labs or anything. is truevector internet monitor a zone alarm thing?

alright ive removed zone alarm and currently have a connection but have now a very weird problem. after booting up, i can't connect to the internet for about 10 minutes. i have an ip from my router yet everything is still blocked. suddenly it just starts working. i kill processes to no avail. truevector (which was related to ZA) is gone from services. what the hell is going on!!! i've never had a problem like this that i am just so clueless about. does anyone have any ideas??

I had ZA Pro installed and didn't like it so I uninstalled it. When I rebooted after the uninstall, I lost my Internet connection. I tried a few things even Windows Restore, nothing. Ended up restoring my last disk image file.

Good luck.

Yeah since version 5 zone alarm is pain in the ass, i would go for outpost firewall before new version released.

To fully uninstall try This link.

i think the problem no longer relates to zone alarm. the problem started when a new router was installed which works fine on all other computers in the house, but for me zone alarm was causing problems. now its gone but the problem still exists. when i start up (or reset or unplug/replug the router) my computer can't get a connection for about 10 minutes. it gets a dhcp lease as soon as it starts up but something is restricting access. i tried that winsock reset in jack's link, and that hasnt helped anything. no problems when i plug back in the old router, and again no problems on any other comps on the network. what on my computer could be causing this to happen? i kill all non-system processes and unnecessary services and still, it just needs to wait 10 minutes... very odd. any ideas?
