HI!

Just installed Redhat Linux but could not login in the first time! I checked and rechecked my user name and password and still no good. I also checked the documentation on it and tried to changed the password by typeing in linux single at the boot: prompt and still no luck. How can I get around this besides reinstalling the whole thing again.

During the course of the installation, be it graphical or otherwise, you should have been prompted to enter a root password. Optionally, you may have also created a regular use account. If you have not created a regular user account but only gave a root password. Then login to your machine using the username of root and password of whatever it is you gave during the installation.

If this doesn't work, and "linux single" from the LILO: prompt doesn't get you anywhere, you may be forced to re-install the OS..since you haven't had a chance to actually use the OS, you won't be losing anything valuable..just leave the partitions as they stand now and ask the new RH installation to re-format and re-install itself..Regards
