Help! Can't get XP Pro re-install to load RAID drivers!

Hello everyone.

I had to do a complete XP Pro re-install on my rig when I got a blue screen with a "Page fault error in non-paged sector" message that I just could not correct. I built the rig and had it running fine since this past Feb.

I have a Soyo DRAGON Plus m/b with an AMD XP 2000 cpu and (2) Western Digital 40 gig h/ds. The rig went through the install process fine when I first built my rig, but now, the XP install gives me a bunch of error messages whenever I try to load the RAID drivers off my floppy. I have even erased the h/ds, made sure that the array is functional and bootable, etc. I have no idea what to try/do next. I even downloaded the newest RAID drivers from Soyo's site...XP didn't let me install those either. Help...

ok... I suggest you read soyo's manual on how to install the drivers... I ran into the exact same problem... if you try to install the drivers you get some kind of error saying can't read data (that's what I got)... they suggest (and this worked for me) you install the drivers during the setup process... YES... during the setup process... when you installed WinXP... you're gonna have to do a repair...put the windows XP CD in your CD drive and boot from the cd to start the setup process... you first see a black screen saying "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration..." or something like that... next screen is a blue screen and at the bottom there's a sort of status bar that says "Press F6 if you need to install third party SCSI or RAID drivers" or something of the sort... this is where you install the RAID drivers... you need to copy the raid drivers to a floppy disk to load them... after hitting F6 you'll get some more screens and then a screen that says you wanted to load RAID or SCSI drivers... Hit S and it will ask you to insert the floppy disk with the drivers... Hit ENTER and it will list the drivers in a menu.. select the driver for WinXP and hit enter... it may say that it found some drivers on the windows disk but will give you the option to install the ones on the floppy... use the ones on the floppy (i think it says Hit S in the bottom again for floppy drivers)... after copying the drivers from the floppy the next screen will display the drivers you selelcted at the top of the screen and will give you the option to install more drivers or to continue with setup... Hit ENTER to continue... next screens will ask you if you want to install a clean copy of Windows XP or Repair the existing copy... chose REPAIR the existing copy... this will leave your installed programs intact but you might have to reinstall some windows patches and maybe some drivers... but the RAID drivers will be preinstalled whether your RAID is enabled in BIOS or not... do this everytime you reinstall Windows XP... if you have the same manual I do the steps are on page 133 under the title Installing Drivers look for the Windows 2000 section (same procedure for WinXP)... should have some steps I listed above for installing 'em... remember to copy the RAID drivers from the SOYO CD or the ones your downloaded to a floppy first (go with the ones you downloaded)... can't install these drivers from a CD during windows install... this should solver your driver problem... GOOD LUCK... I'll monitor this thread for a progress report in case you need help... I'm sure others will respond too... hopefully...

Hello.

I'm running into this problem during the install. That's what I cannot understand...I went through the installation fine when I first built this rig from scratch. But now, I can't get past the 3rd party RAID software installation screen. The exact error reads as follows:

"TXTSETUP.OEM CAUSED AN UNEX[ECTED ERROR (1024) AT LINE 1742 IN D:\XPCLIENT\BASE\BOOT\SETUP\OEMDISK.C"

I have the drivers I need on a floppy, the array is functional, my h/ds are empty...everything. I just can't get XP to install the drivers and finish the installation process.

sorry for the delay...i was busy... first week of classes... anyways... sounds like a problem with your install cd... if this didn't happen the first time you set up your system and you're positive your hardware is fine... then I suggest you try installing XP from a hard drive (if you have an extra one)... other than that... your guess is as good as mine... everytime I reinstall xp (which is about every three months)... I never run into this error... I install both the RAID drivers and the Ultra Family Drivers since I tend to experiment with different configurations... I appologize ahead of time for suggesting this but maybe you might look up the error on the M$ site... sorry I couldn't help... and GOOD LUCK...🙁
