Help: Can't get my SCSI CDrom to work on my SCSI controller!

Here's the setup:

I have an AMI Megaraid 1500 (SCSI) two channel controller. I am using
one channel for raid, but since I am not using the other channel
for anything, I figured it'd be useful to run my Plextor 40x Max
(50 pin) SCSI CDrom. I attached a 68->50 pin adaptor to the second
SCSI channel on the adaptor and am running a 50 pin cable to the
drive. I am running Windows 2000. Termination and parity jumpers
are on on the drive. (Before you say it, yes I know this is a waste
of a high performance SCSI channel, but since I don't need it for
anything else, that isn't an issue here).

The machine boots OK, Win2K sees the drive. I can insert a music
CDrom into the drive and Win2K recognizes it as a music CD. HOWEVER,
if I try to play the CDrom I get no sound. If I check the "digital
music extraction" option for the drive and reboot, the drive starts
to act funky and if I insert a music CDrom, it skips from track
to track without ever being able to play any track.

I turned the digital music extraction, rebooted again, and decided
to see if I could copy from the drive. I ran Nero (5.5.5.1) to
make a copy, using the Plextor drive as the source. Nero
appears to run properly. I get a CD with the proper number of tracks
as the copy. However, every track is blank if I try to play it.

To make sure this wasn't a drive issue, I have tried three different
Plextor 40x Max drives and none of them has worked.

Any suggestions?

just the basics, is the drive terminated as it's the last on that chain & secondly what ID is each of your scsi devices using?

Termination is set on the CDrom.

I tried different IDs for the CDrom. I think I'm using 3 right
now. The SCSI hard drives are on the other channel and I believe
are 0 and 1 (but are auto-assigned anyway by the Raid card).

kwad, i also have a plextor, 40x. it was very unstable if i use the drive termination jumper. i bought one of
those terminators that plugs into the end of the cable itself, it cost around $11 and it solved all my scsi/plextor problems.
termination is very important with scsi devices. good luck.
