Help - can't dowload items from Itunes store

I'm trying to download various free podcasts, such as Startalk. When I press the "Get" button, however, the little download icon that typically shows up never does.

I had this problem awhile ago, and it turned out a virus program was stopping the downloads. I've searched for info on this but am not seeing anything this time around. I've uninstalled bitdefender, and turned off the default Microsoft virus program. Taken everything out of the startup list as well. Still, can't download. ITunes is up to date, and tried restarting it and my computer many times.

Any idea how I might get the downloads working?

Many thanks!

This is nuts. I think it may have something to do with port 80 not being open. I run the itunes diagnostics, and it says everything is working fine. But I go to any one of those websites that check whether a port on your machine is open or closed, and I specify port 80, and it says its closed. I added a rule in Windows Firewall to specifically open port 80, but still no go. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Can't help, but came across same issue today when I deleted a podcast episode by accident and tried to reacquire.
