here's what I currently have:

1ghz t-bird @ 1.3ghz
MSI K7T266PRO-R
512MB pc2100 crucial RAM
Visiontek Geforce 2 GTS 32MB DDR
seagate 40gb 7200RPM
HP 12x10x40 cd-rw
using onboard sound with basic 3 piece altec lancsing setup (works good for my needs)

I am a lite 3D gamer, I play more 2D strategy games (war2/star), the only reason I would want a GF3 is because of WARCRAFT III!😀

I can't decide on which of these three packages to get:

1. Geforce 3 TI200 with 256MB PC2100 Crucial RAM
or
2. Athlon XP 1800 with SK6 cooler
or
3. Santa Cruz sound card with Logitech 560Z THX speakers

if you are using that onboard sound of yours still, I go with the speakers and sound card. Your system is fast enough.

well,. I will say you probably dont need the faster CPU so #2 is a no-go =)

I see you already have 512 megs of Ram, thats very good if you ask me.

The only thing that I might think about upgrading would be the g2 to a g3Ti200 64meg
everything else looks great.

If you really wanted to spend money you could go with the G3TI200 64 meg with the Santa Cruz sound card and Logitech 560Z THX speakers, or if you had a budget and it was close you could take out the Logitech 560Z THX speakers and replace them with the SB 5.1 inspires. go for about 99 bucks or so (unless the Logitech are cheaper).

ps you did ask for opinions... =)

I'd get the CPU upgrade, but you should decide according to what you use your PC for.

I dont play that many games (perhaps about 2 hours a week), so CPU performance is more important to me than a graphics accelerator. 🙂

You dont say what sound setup you currently have though. What is it?
