Help cant decide on videocard

Heres my dilemma, right now i have a socket 939 athlon 3800 x2 i just ordered an opteron 165 that i'm going to oc the crap out of it. It just needs to last me until barcalona comes out. I cant decide on wheather i want to buy a geforce 8800 gts 320 from evga and use the stepup program to upgrade to whatever is available in 90 days or if i want to dish out the extra 100.00 an buy the 2900xt. I know that by the time dx10 games like crysis come out there will already be a refresh of cards from both companies. right now i have a 7600 gt that needs to go. Let me know what you guys think. right now im leaning toward the 320gts even though i'm an amd/ati fanboy.

What monitor/resolution do you have? What games do you play?

If the answer is 1600x1200 or 1680x1050 or lower, then you should probably just get a X1950XT and wait till Q4, there will surely be a refresh or two before then, and you'll likely be able to score 8800Ultra speeds for $200ish. I'm thinking 8900GS BFG OC Edition or the like AR. ATI is cooking improved versions of the 2900 as we speak, and Nvidia surely has revisions waiting for them as well.
