Help! - Can't connect XP Pro to 2000 Server Domain

I am trying to connect a new XP Pro machine to our 2000 Server Network. When I try and log into the domain, I get the following message:

A domain controller for the domain MEDTECH-MPLS could not be contacted.

Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly.

If the name is correct, click Details for troubleshooting information.

The domain name MEDTECH-MPLS might be a NetBIOS domain name. If this is the case, verify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS.

If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain name, then the following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS configuration.

The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain MEDTECH-MPLS:

The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)

This is the first XP machine that I have tried to setup on our network. We have all 98se and one 2000 Pro machines now. Is there some setup detail that I am missing. I tried to set the XP machine up just like the others and it isn't working. Please Help.

Check, then recheck your dns. It it cant find a domain controller, it's almost always a dns issue.

I'm sure that there is something wrong with the DNS setup. I can ping to and from the XP machines by name, and I can connect to the server/printers/workstations by mapping a network drive, but I just can't log into the domain at startup.

Make sure the DNS server allows dynamic updates. Sounds like the DC has no SRV record in DNS. Is this an AD integrated DNS zone?

It is AD integrated, and your right, I don't think there is a SRV record. Any ideas how I can check this for sure or set it up.
