I have a Asus P4T-E motherboard that I am trying to add memory to.. It had 2 64MB PC800 sticks in it when I bought it.. I recently bought 2 128MB sticks of PC800 to add to it.. However, I have tried every configuration I can think of but I can't get it to recognize the new memory.. I am at a loss here.. please help me... Anyone???

did you try to replace the 64 mb sticks with 128 Mb?
Also see if the ECC is turned on and turn it off if your new ram does not support it.

Comrade urbanstyles,

Greetings from the peace-loving people of the socialist motherland!

You're attempting to add the new memory in or are you attempting to replace the old with the new? I'm a little concerned that you're not getting any recognition of the new memory at all. If the present memory is recognized and you remove it and replace it with the new RIMMS and the new RIMMS aren't recognized, that would smell to me like bad, capitalist cabbage. What brand are we talking about?

Clearly your problem has to do with the work of counter-revolutionary wreckers and saboteurs.

Comrade tenoc,

Your's is the standard by which we're to judge helpfulness, comrade tenoc? Comrade urbanstyles is to walk away from your contribution with a solution to his problem?

I have tried adding the memory to existing memory.. and I have tried with just the new memory.. nothing works....

One stick is Kingston ( should be OK) the other is syncMAX...

Can't get through POST to even check settings.. video won't come on to enter setup or anything..

Comrade urbanstyles,

So as we are to understand it, there is no video, no post, nothing. The problem, then, is clearly more deep seated than simply a failure to recognize the new memory: You can't even get into set-up.

First, consult ASUS about resetting CMOS and, if you determine that there is nothing to prohibit what I'm about to suggest, using only the RDRAM that worked originally and after having reseated the video card, unplug the computer from the power source, remove the CMOS battery for a moment or so and replace it, reconnect the computer to the power source and try to reboot.

It is our suspicion that Trotsky has had a hand in this, comrade urbanstyles. He will be paid in full.

Yours in the joy of socialist labor,

Check page 23 of the owner's manual. If you don't have one, get it here.

I could be wrong, (it's happened once or twice) but you may need all modules the same size.

I850 needs that rimm pair is identical, at least they should have same count of memory chips that are also equally configured. So you have no way to make your two different kinds of rimms to work together.
