what could it be? i checked the hosts file, nothing funny there... neither IE nor firefox works. all other sites work... except for this one other site fastmail.fm, which i use for email... nothing funny in zonealarm either
 
try a spyware check, virus scan as some search engines are blocked by this kind of stuff.

also, clear your cache (aka temporary internet files) and refresh.
