What am I doing wrong, I just got a Gainward 64 MB Ti4200 Ultra/650, (well it was suppose to be a Golden Sample, Newegg send me the wrong one) I poped it in with the original drivers and runing it at default speed 250/513 MHz only got a score of about 6300, took it up to 275/550 and got 6450, installed the 4071 Beta drivers and got 6850, took it up to 295/590 and still only 7380. WHAT IS WRONG. Is there something else that I have to think about to get better scores, I'm new to this and don't know how to tweek VideoCards. I use to have a ATi AIW card before, have heard that it could give some problems.

This is the rest of my system.

MB IWILL XP 333-R
CPU AMD XP1600+ (no overclock, yet :D)
RAM SAMSUNG DDR2700 256 MB DTL
HD WD 120 GB Special Edition

PLEASE HELP ME

If you got the wrong card I would send it back. The Golden Sample is better.I scored 12,311 with my visiontek Ti4200 128MB card,1600+@ 2100+,WD 80gig SE 8MB cache HD and Corsair 512 XMS cas 2.5 Have no idea whats going on with yours.Your score should be better.Use 40.71 detonator drivers, but you seem to have something else wrong.

Something is definitely holding you back because even without tweaking your DX and openGL settings your score should be much higher. My 8500LE scores 9600+ with only a 25mhz mem/core boost on my Sweetness rig in my sig and it shouldn't be handing your's it's lunch like that.

Sounds like something is wrong! Seems a few thousand off....

Check you motherboards BIOS settings, is your CPU showing the correct speed? Something in the
Memory, CPU, Video Card area is wrong.... Some setting is off or the hardware isnt running up to
level....

My Radeon AiW 8500 DV 64mb runs 7600 in the 3Dmark2001 se (330) benchmark.... And I know
a Ti4200 should rip that score up and dance on its remains.....

And yes the golden sample is different check back with newegg and see if you got the correct card!

Golden Sample (Newegg model# "GF4PP Ultra/650TV GS" ) has the 3.3ns memory, the Ultra 650's
have the 3.5ns memory..... whoa hehe

Well if there is something wrong with his system there is also with mine cos Im getting without OC about 8500 (1800+) and DAPUNISHER your processor is at 1880MHz that should have something to do with your scores :).

How much does it matter though.

I have an athlon 1Ghz Athlon, with 512 meg ram running win 98, a gainward gs 4400.

Using 3dmark 2001se i only get around 7500. I get a bit more if i overclock the card. I was worried it was a bit low but after checking on some other forums i was told my cpu was holding the card back. I dont know if this is true of not. I have read about cpu scaling and such like. Does it sound low to you guys.
I cant o/c my cpu as it would mean manually (with a stanley knife or a drimmel) breaking the multiplier as it seems the only way to do. L1 trick doesnt seem to work.

Thanks guys

OK, now I have a score of 9068 @ default speed 250/513 MHz. Something was definetly holding me down, I went over to IWILL technical forum and found out something about the ALI AGP that NVIDIA drivers 27.xx and later will disable M1647 AGP functions on all NVIDIA VGA cards under WIN 2000 and XP.
If you have the same problem go to ALi Support.
When I followed the instruction I found that my ATi drivers were still in the registry. So I cleaned installed XP and I got a score of 7300, then I went in and enabled AGP and no I have 9068, will try to OC it later tonight and see how high I can get it.
