Help...Can I retrieve a lost Excel file???

My mom just called from work - she accidentally deleted an excel file she has been working all day on - it was not saved. Is there any way she can retrieve it? I know...she should have saved it...I told her....

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!!

only way to recover it now is through use of a 3rd party proggie like
easyrecoverypro..if that part of the hdd hasn't been rewritten to theres almost a 99%
chance of retrieving it. do a search for like 'file recovery' 'hdd recovery' on google and u might find
a freeware or something.

of course some people look on kazaa or something called bittorrent...which i have no idea what they are
personally.

Even if it was on the HD temporarily, she didn't save it, meaning she doesn't know what the file name is, so data recovery software is useless. Personally I think she's SOL.

Depending on the "auto-save" frequency and whether it was saved in any fashion (you said it wasn't) the file that would be created has the extension ".xar"

the .xar file is purged however, once a successful save, copy or transfer or program close is performed. The location of the Office Temp files in XP Pro is:

C:\Documents and Settings\**USER**\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel
