help calm my nervs

Hello. Please tell us the price of this PC you're thinking about and what components it contains.

Socket 939 is "dead." Meaning that it has no future; they are no longer making parts for it. Unless this is a screaming deal, you would be better off with a Socket AM2 (AMD) system, or an Intel C2D (Socket 775) system.

Don't misunderstand; Socket 939 has PLENTY of performance in it; it just has no upgrade path for you. Many people that currently already have a S939 system buy a faster CPU, faster PCI-E video card, etc in order to upgrade.

But if you don't already have a S939 system and are buying a complete system, brand new. you would be much better off buying a Socket AM2 (AMD) or Socket 775 (Intel).

Wow seriously, for a $2K system you should go Core2.

But anyways, 88%/82% of the reviews for the X-Fi and Asus board are 4/5 stars, meaning an excellent product. With 91%/88% giving it a 3 star rating or above. Theres always a minority of idiots who don't know how to use a good product even if given one.

I am running a A64 3700 @ 2700mhz right now on a Asus A8n-E. Its a great mobo but like everyone already said, s939 is outdated now. No new processors will come out for it. For $2k you should go for a Core 2 Duo system. Go for an E6600 if you can since it has 4mb cache and overclocks liek a champ. Just make sure to get a good mobo and ram.

Well, just use the Anandtech High-End buying guide:

Core Components (Baseline):

Display/Case/Etc (Baseline):

Although I'd probably replace the motherboard with an Asus P5B-E (I see Crossfire as a waste of money) for single card solutions. I'd get the Lian-Li or P180 case but only the 22" LCD (heck even a Samsung 205BW class 20" Widescreen for $260ish is good enough). Total together should be under $2K, but its obviously not assembled.
