Help buying 19 in monitor

I'm about to buy a new monitor. It will be a 19 inch crt.
The choice is primarily between these two:
- Philips 109B50
- Samsung SyncMaster 957MB

Main use: gaming.

Thankful for advice and help, because I could not find any review about the Philips monitor.
Perhaps I shouldn't buy either of those two?

I recomend the NEC Diamond Pro 930SB. Ive not seen the phillips but i have seen the Samsung and the NEC blows it away. Whats your price range?

Price range? Cheap, but I want a monitor that is both bright and doesn't put undue stress on my poor eyes.
Not more expensive than the two I listed in the initial post.
(Here in Sweden they cost around 2,300-2,400 SEK, but that's hardly much help)

Edited: Holy crap! That NEC you recommend might be great but it's twice as expensive as the ones I listed.

If you are looking for cheap price wise then normally you`ll find shadow mask monitors cheaper then aperture grill type monitors,I would also put the CTX EX951F Plus and the Hyundai Q995S on your list ,both are good quality flat CRTs at a reasonable price.

Btw if you want me to pick one from your list, then I would go Samsung .

I'd recommened NEC or Viewsonic over Samsung. Had three of their monitors, 950P, 900NF, and 1100DF. The last two were prone to some nasty bouts of EMI. Samsung's support is also mediocre. I really liked my 900NF, but the EMI proved too much. 🙁

Fluke. At least it better be. Mine's only 3 weeks old. Your dad send his back?

my samsung syncmaster 753df is great...haven't had problems with it for 3 years. it could be a fluke. i'd go for whatever is cheaper..over the next year flat panels will come down and you might just have the urge to buy one...well that's my plan. i hate tugging around a crt from college and back home.

Yep ive got an Samsung 957p for 3 years and it hasnt any problem ANY!!! its crystal clear, short and good 🙂 so SAMSUNG

Monitor recommendations will differ as everyone's eyes are different. While some may claim a certain manufacturer is garbage, another may sing their praises.

I suggest you have a look in person.
