Long story short, it's that time to build a new Gaming PC. I have a Macbook Pro which I use for work, music, and everything else. So this PC will really only be used for gaming purposes. I would like to have the option to plug it in to my Samsung 40" LCD HDTV with no issues, but it will mostly be plugged into a normal monitor. Other then that I don't really care about bluray, and I want a SSD, usb 3.0, and at least 6gb of ram but more would be nice if I can fit it into my budget.

Anyhow I filled out the survey to get a good idea of what I'm looking for.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Gaming (Starcraft 2, Team Fortress 2, Vindictus, Diablo 3, Old Republic)

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

I prefer to spend $800 or less but I will go up to $1000 if necessary.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

Intel, Nvidia if its not to far off from radeon, but either will do

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Yes

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

default

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.

Not sure but I will hook it up to my 40" Samsung LCD 1080p HDTV sometimes.

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

November

Many thanks for those who help me with this build. I've been looking into the Newegg Bundle packs and ibuypower, but looking at all those different options makes me really indecisive.

No
Just to be clear...
You want us to help you, but you don't want to spend any time reading relevant information already provided in these forums?

I'm really sorry I must of misread that line. I honestly have spent hours reading here, tomshardware, and newegg but still haven't come to a conclusion. I looked at a few other budget build guides but most are AMD builds, where I posted that I prefer Intel and I also forgot to post that I do want usb 3.0 if possible.

^ Look in some of the many threads like that, mfenn has these sort of builds nailed. Just need to hit the right combos if you can use etailers like newegg.

None of those combos he listed exist anymore

You can still look at the parts though.

Anyway, $800 is a tough price point for an Intel gaming system. The entry-level to for reasonable Intel gaming chips is the i5 760, which is $200 right there. Spending a full quarter of your budget on a CPU does not make for an effective gaming rig. Care to share why you aren't considering AMD?

Maybe because AMD CPUs have screwed him over in the past?
...I'm just saying. ^_^

Yes, well then I guess I have no choice of paying the extra money needed.

I find it hard to believe than an AMD CPU itself would have caused you problems. Some of the VIA and SIS chipsets on the other hand...

i5 760 + 6870 combo $439
GA-P55-USB3 $105
G.Skill DDR3 1333 8GB $135
Mushkin Callisto 60GB $118 AR
Samsung F3 1TB $55 Apromo
LG DVD Burner $18 Apromo
Seasonic S12II 520W $60
Antec Three Hundred $60
Total: $990 AR Apromo

If you need a Windows license, drop the 6870 down to a 6850.

Very much the bold. Nice build for the price.

Well, AMD has produced more than just CPUs in the past.
Maybe it was a chipset, MB, video card... Nobody can be sure.
