Hey... ok so i finally got all the stuff for my new rig and started building it... i was almost done but like my AGP video card just wouldnt connect to the AGP port, like the little dent in the card didnt match the one in the slot. so well my card is an old-school ATI RageII-C 4mb AGP. ya its old but i got one for my dads comp and it worked like a charm so i decided to get myself one as a temporary measure until i can afford a radeon 9700 ... and my mobo is a MSI K7N2-L, which is AGP 8X... am i right? if so theres no practical solution is there, other than buy a new card that is?

ok well theres 3 more minor issues too:

1- first off i have a viewsonic g90fb monitor and i cant connect it to the supplied stand. call me stupid but i just cant do it, can anyone help?
2- i have a TURBO GAMER X-PIDER 21IN BLACK ALUMINUM case and i cant seem to find where to screw in the cd drive in. it stays in place but the cd for instance is not making contact with the sides of the cage and there are some little strips that come with it but i dont know what to do with them, so its just hanging there kinda.
3- finally, there are some cables coming out of the case itself, right by the leds and reset switch and stuff that i dont know where to plug in, there are two small 1-connector ones that are labelled "+5.0v 1" and "+5.0v 2" or something and theres two more 4-connector ones i think that are labelled something and "ground"... i know this is a silly question but i need to know!

thanks so much for any help! i have to walk for half an hour from my house to get to the university before i can use a computer so this is really important to me! :)

Is for the front USB on the case. Read the manual for front usb in the mobo manual.

You need a new video card, yep.

Your monitor's base will engage some slots on the underside of the monitor and then slide until it locks into place.

Your case comes with those strips, referred to as "rails," and they're intended to be screwed onto the sides of your CD-ROM drive so it slides in and latches into place. Here's a photo of a drive with the rails on it: Picture and here's one of the drive slid into the case on its rails: Picture 2

Regarding the USB wiring, you might want to hold off on that.

mechBgon thx a lot dude for the cd drive thing that was really frustrating me!

as for the front usb thing, why hold off on it? also to be honest i dont think its it, cuz theres nothing about it in the manual and i vaguely remember something about having "grounding cables" or am i mixing stuff up?

any pics, websites for the monitor thing? i know thats what i have to do i just cant tell which slots to put it into cuz the underside of the monitor is covered in little slots (or airholes, whatever)...

thx ! :) keep it comin!

dude you're trying to run a 4mb video card? even for temporary use, i recommend atleast a 16mb card. with 4mb, can you even run 1024x768 with 32bit color? lol. you seem to have bought a lot of stuff but skimped on the video card.

hehe well i wanted a radeon 9700 but im going to have to save for a bit to get that so for now i figured id use the cheap 4mb card. i got one for my dads tbird 1.4 system and he runs it 1024x768 24 bit colour no probs and it looks awesome in win2k... so yeah thats definitely bearable as a short-term measure, neways im going to try and trade it for a cheap pci card instead for now...

I suggested holding off on the USB because it's hard enough to explain the right hookup even when I actually know how the case's wiring is made. You can use the rear USB ports, so it's not like you don't have any USB to work with.

The monitor should come with an instruction sheet that shows how to attach the base, look and see if it's with the packing material. :)
