Help: Building Custom Laptop or Choosing Right Prebuilt

Hi,

I think this should be pretty easy for the experts on here. I am looking for a custom or prebuilt laptop with following:

1. At least 17 inch
2. To run Win7
3. Min 4G RAM
4. Lots of HD space, preferably 1TB if that's doable
5. Brands not important
6. In addition to normal web-browsing (no gaming) and sometimes watching video files, I'll be using it to run simulations for solving games, so something that is fast and, ideally, could handle running the sim and allow me to still use the computer.
7. Budget: Under $2K, even better if closer to 1.5K.

Any advice on specific models or online retailers is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jonah

The Dell XPS 17" sounds like it would be right up your alley. The top-end one has an i7 quad-core, 6GB of memory, and can be upgraded to two 640GB HDDs for about $1500.

Yeah, selecting the upgrade components for the 17" XPS gets you a solid desktop-replacement laptop. (Too large/heavy for some, too pricey for others, but there's definitely a market for them!)
