Help Building an SLI machine

i currently have an outdated AGP mobo with lousy AGP video card, wanted to get myself a new mobo/processor and a couple of SLI video cards.

I am trying to keep costs down and found the following peices for a total of around$600. i was wondering if you all could tell me if the stuff i have selected is worth the asking price, and worth spending the cash on.

Are you going SLI because you want to run very big resolutions with a lot of AA or something? If you want to keep cost down and performance up the best bet is to get 1 better video card and a Core 2 Duo processor because the one you have picked out will be a bottle neck with SLI 7900GS.

Pick up a E6300, x1950xt 256mb, and a Gigabyte S3 instead. Also check out Tom Hardware's Christmas Video Card Guide they put up today.
 
i run a lot of high end games and i am sick and tired of the lousy fps and poor performance i am getting currently.

i was assumign the best remedy to this problem would be an SLI machine.

Am i wrong?

Any chance you could provide a little bit more info for me than the product descrips? Im kind of green - just got this website from a friend 🙂
 
crydee is correct. And you sure do not want a Pentium cpu. Like he said, Intel E6300, X1950 XT, and even the Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 board is a good board.

The only other thing I would consider is holding out for a DX10 card to be released in that price range.

You will need DDR2 memory though.

probably 4-6 months before they are $300 or less. Of course some budget DX10 cards will be here by then in the $200-$250 range.
 
In Newegg just type in E6300, only the processor will come up, then the Gigabyte S3, and then the X1900XT 256MB and pick your favorite manufacturer. You will get a lot more FPS on games with that set up then what you currently have picked out.
