As this is my first time building my computer, I need some help in choosing my parts. I have some parts in mind that I would like but for the rest, I'm totally lost.

What will it be used for?
I'm going to use it primarily for gaming.

Budget
I can spend anywhere from $1200 to $1500.

Country
I live in America.

Brand preference
I don't really have a brand preference. However, there are some parts that I would like included in my build, mentioned below.

Current Parts
Keyboard, monitor, etc etc. Nothing internal.

Searched previous threads
I have looked at previous threads that were similar to my requests but I'm unable to really figure out how to modify their build to my preferences.

Overclock
Possibly, Haven't really thought about it but would like to try it eventually.

Resolution
1920 x 1080

When
I want to build it with the month.

Along with the information above, I want an i5 sandy bridge processor and a SSD hard drive. Also, it would be great if the computer was relatively silent.

Thanks in advance

do you need an OS in that budget?

gaming and 'relatively silent' don't go together great

No, the OS is not included in the budget. If it can't be silent that's fine as well. It's not a priority.

Your proposed budget gives you lots of good options.

Search through here and get about the same answers provided to almost everyone who asks the same question.

tynopik, Thanks for the build, it definitely looks like it has pretty much everything I need.

After searching through the posts on the forum, I put together a build with the parts that I liked and seemed to be compatable with each other. Could you please take a look and see if there are any conflicts or problems with the hardware I chose?

Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 912

GPU: EVGA SuperClocked 012-P3-1572-AR GeForce GTX 570

PSU: XFX Black Edition XPS-850W-BES 850W ATX12V

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) x2

Mobo: ASUS SABERTOOTH P67 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz

CPU cooler: COOLER MASTER V6 GT RR-V6GT-22PK-R1 120mm DynaLoop CPU Cooler

Dvd drive/blu ray: LG Black 10X Blu-ray Burner - Bulk SATA WH10LS30 LightScribe Support - OEM

Hard drive: OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Total cost: $1,519.90

If there are any issues or suggestions that could be made to this build, please do.

Thank you.

600watt psu would be fine, and your cpu cooler is overkill, go with hyper 212+ its cheap and good.

You're paying too much for the GPU, PSU, RAM and mobo. You'll likely also want a secondary HDD.

Swap the parts for:
Galaxy GTX 570 $315 AR
Earthwatts EA650 $65
G.Skill DDR3 1333 8GB $65
GA-P67A-UD3 + i5 2500K combo $335

Add a Samsung F3 1TB.

Also, do you really need a Blu-ray burner?

Are you guys really gonna let this guy use a 120GB SSD as his main drive lol?

Cut the SSD and get a 1TB Samsung F3.

Get this 570 instead: MSI Twin Frozr OC GTX 570

Cut down the ASUS Sabertooth into an ASUS P67 PRO.

Cut the 850w XFX PSU down to this Corsair 750w

Get the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ instead of the CPU cooler you got

Upgrade your case to a Haf 922
On a 1,500 you say NO SSD? Uhm what? Really?
Why would you pay for an oc'd gpu? Just buy vanilla and oc yourself. OP ignore these suggestions.

You just love to disagree with everything I recommend don't you buddy.

First off, I didn't say no SSD; but having a 120GB SSD as your main drive is just ridiculous.

Second off, lmao @ "WHY WOULD YOU PAY FOR AN OC'D GPU LAWLZ"; did you even check out the GPU I recommended? It has an aftermarket cooling system that will ENSURE you good temps no matter how hard you OC it.

Third off, why in the hell would he ignore my suggestions to cut down the PSU, cut down the mobo, cut down the cooler and upgrade the case; jesus dude..

The ASUS P67 PRO + 2500k combo will be better for his budget and will allow him to SLI in the future

A 750w Corsair will ensure he has enough power to run SLI whenever he gets the chance to in the future.

1. You said cut the ssd and replace with hdd

2. Because there are better solutions and even a non-oc'd card with good cooling will oc to levels most people decide to oc to. (you don't see most people pushing 1ghz core)

3. Because everyone else already said that, no point in upgrading case btw

1. What I meant was to cut using the SSD as the main drive and replace it with a 1TB HDD; then save money on other parts and then buy an SSD but obviously I didn't make that clear enough.

2. If you want to push your 570 to it's full potential you're gonna need something way better than reference cooling; sorry bro.

3. No point in upgrading case? You kidding? Much better airflow and cable management are pretty big reasons; not too mention tool-less drive bays.

Alright, after reading the posts, I have revised my build to:

Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 912

CPU + Mobo: Intel Core i5-2500K + GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD3 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

HDs: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB + OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G 2.5" 120GB

CPU Cooler: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212

Optical Drive: LG DVD±RW SuperMulti Drive Black SATA Model GH22NS50B - OEM

PSU: Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W

GPU: Galaxy 57NKH3HS00GZ GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB

RAM: G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333

I don't plan on having a SLI configuration or seriously overclocking my GPU so I picked the cheaper options. The cable management and tool-less drive bays on the 922 are pretty tempting but I think that the fact that the 912 is a bit lighter is something that I'm more interested in. Once again, it would be great if I could get a look over and make sure I'm not doing something stupid before I order.

Thank You.
