Sat nite we had huge thunderstorms here, I went out to the porch and hear pitiful meowing, under the bush in my yard was a young calico cat. She's fairly small, gorgous fur color pattern.

This little cat has been on my porch since Sat, she's VERY friendly, approaches purring, willingly seeks out your lap, she sat patiently while our landlords 1 yr old patted her.

I'm not sure but I suspect somebody dumped this poor creature off here, she's clearly terrified being outside, her coat is in good shape and she's well nourished.

I put an ad on craig's list but no response except for one person whom I suspect is looking for animals to sell to labs. I'd take her in but we have a cat who's not good with other cats.

This is a worthy feline, an adorable, clearly well socialized little creature who's somehow stumbled into my life seeking protection.

If you live in the greater Boston area and would be interested in this little sweetie or know somebody who might be please pm me. I know of a good, low cost Vet and could see my way clear to helping you to get her vetted.

manlymatt83 and his lovely g/friend just left, with the cat!!!

Kitty has a new home !!!! The awesome power of the ATOT effect has done it again!!

Geekbabe, the cat may be microchipped. You should at least have a shelter or vet scan her - it might lead you to the owners.

Who is this sick bastard?

This is actually a common practice for some idiots, and happens with dogs too.

They scan ads for "Free to a good home", take the animals and when they have enough quantities, make a profit. Some people don't place the same value on animals lives that others do.

I have looked into giving up my retreivers, but due to this my search is very limited to word of mouth.

If I wasn't 2000 miles away I'd take her. I just lost my best buddy of 18 years 3 weeks ago. :(

Hmmm, I know my little girl would want a kitty. Let me talk it over with the Ms. and see what happens.

Drat.. would love to have a cat, but already know that I am not at home enough to prevent the furniture from becoming shredded fabric while I am at work all day long :-(

Blah... some year I'll have a pet.

Also, there are numerous folks on craigslist that will take free cats/dogs and then turn around to post an ad on craigslist trying to sell the cat/dog. It's pretty sick.

gooseman:

I have to drive to Texas (from Boston) next month. I just sent Geekbabe a PM myself but still have to check with the "others". Perhaps if not, I could take her with me when I go down.

Kitty is still here, she basically sleeps on a comfy chair on the porch, leaving only to potty briefly and returning immediately. This is not an aggressive animal, neighbor's cat came over and kitty sat quietly, moving only when neighbor's cat got right up in her face.

She's eating and drinking quite well, very friendly, a loud purr, comes right up to me seeking petting and also willingly jumps into the lap.

If anyone is interested in getting a cat, this one is a gem, please pm me as I'll be home today and tomorrow and need to start making some hard choices as it isn't fair or safe to allow this poor cat to be a porch dweller indefinatly.

I've noticed an increase of abandoned cats in our neighborhood. That is how we ended up with our calico. There's one that I feed because the owner didn't take her bell off (or she got out). Never lets me get close enough to get it off or look for a tag.

We've never owned a cat before, what do the associated costs of shots / spaying/neutering look like? If we go through with this, I want to be sure we can afford it since we'd want the cat to be well taken care of.

Our vet is located here in Everett, a spay with shots is around $200, his fees are very reasonable. There are also low cost programs if you're willing to do the legwork involved.

Our Cat, Miss Kitty, is an indoor animal only in terms of cost, she's very inexpensive to upkeep.

Everett definitely isn't far, we're in Lynn. $200 is well within affordability as well. I just honestly have no clue what to expect in terms of expenses and wanted to make sure it wasn't out of line with what I expected :) I'll keep in touch via this thread, still gotta talk to my fiance and see what she thinks.

This is a very nice cat, trust me if I could do so safely,I'd keep her, unfortunately Miss Kitty is horrid to other cats.

Every cat I have ever owned has been abandoned. Abandoned animals tend to be the best pets. This cat is trying to adopt you as its owner :D

She will most likely make a great cat for anybody who wants here if you treat her right.

Well if she's trying to adopt me she's doing a bang up job thus far, I've been fetching food and water, brushing and tending to her every day. Unfortunately for her, our cat is like the Darth Vadar of felines, that's why we only have one cat, because she's really horrible anytime I've tried to bring in a second animal.

yay. although i never had a pet besides fish i <3 cats and glad this one went to a good home. its probably horrible to be a stray or feral cat, not to mention it can be devastating to other wild animals (birds, etc) in certain areas
