I'm new to the computer world (as you probably can tell from the topic), and I need some help reinstalling windows. I enter the Windows XP installation CD into my computer, and it says I need to restart the computer and boot from it, but when I restart the computer with the CD in the drive, nothing happens. Is there a special button I need to push? Thanks.

Did you enable booting from CD as the first boot device in your CMOS?

99% odds that's it.

Make your CD drive the first boot device.

I went into the advanced CMOS section in my computer's bios, but I didn't see where I could change the boot device?

Keep looking. If it's a reasonably new motherboard, it's in there. Check your manual if you can't find it.

or a section called "Boot" - like on the new AmiBIOSes and all Pheonix BIOSes.
