Help boost my score up guys!

Hoping you guys can help me w/ my bench mark scores for the 3dMarks 2001. I'm getting a tiny 2980 right now with this rig o'mine, and I see guys around with 6000++. Now motivated by benchmark envy, I wanna blow my score up a few thou, at least to make it respectable. So any advice on which parts gonna help me out more? A new vid card, cpu, mem? Which would have the most impact first??

Setup:

Duron 750
A7V133 Rev 1.005
Voodoo5 5500
256 Crucial PC133 CL-2
15 gig 75GXP
MX400 sound card
True42x Kenwood cd-rom

To get scores up high in 3DM2K1, you have to have a hardware T&L video card. Your Voodoo5 does not have hardware T&L. Now, I don't suggest you ditch it because of this, but if you were curious about what needs to be replaced to get better scores in that synthetic benchmark, it's the video card. 3DM2K1 seems to be "optimized" for the GF3.

Everybodys drooling about the GF3, I feel left out cause I got a GF2 PRO a month or 2 ago. GF3 was to expensive, is there really that much difference? I mean, I've hird alot of good things and all... but really, do you need a GF3? How would it compare to the GF2 GTS?

Main reason ppl are getting much better scores are because it's pumping out more FPS in each demo but not only that I would say where it plays the extra Nature demo and a couple other things helps them reach 6000+. Our Geforce 2's and other cards don't support these 2-3 extra benches which are the reason we none GF3 owners ain't getting over 4500+.

I don't understand why Geforce 2 doesnt support the nature demo as it will play it just fine in the 3Dmark2001 intro Demo. Wait for Ultra if your going the GF3 route but TMHO though.

I just got my GF2 Pro a month ago also. I am so happy with and was not about to spend 340 bucks on a GF3. The pro is a great improvement over my GF1 SDR...

Yes, but no. Of course there is a difference, sometimes a pretty big one, but that's just product evolution for you. It's a good thing. 😀 But don't feel left out. A GF2 Pro is going to play just about anything out there today even at fairly high resolutions. I still use a Voodoo3 with 166MHz GPU/memory and I get by. A GF2 Pro with 400MHz memory/250MHz GPU/HW T&L does fine!

You will, but not yet, so don't fret. Go to the AT's main section and you'll find all the benchmarks you need for the GF3 and GF2 GTS.

Why would anyone in their right mind want to "boost their 3dmark scores" ?! Is that the puspose of having a computer, to have a high benchmark score?!

I can understand someone wanting to get higher frame rate in a game, or better performance in some 3d CAD application... But boosting a benchmark score?

It's not even fun bragging about the 3dmark score: "ohh, look at me, I got 8491 in 3dmark!" - compare that to "I got 300 frames per second at the highest resolution in Quake3"..
