hi.

i have 2 asus 8800gts (640) running in SLI. - never gave me any trouble.

forceware is 177.92 beta on xp & vista os. running oc with rivatuner 2.10. standard clocks are 500/800, i keep them low in 2d and push them to 540/891 using profiles.

i have recently (way after new driver install) started to notice anomalies with screen color in games such crysis, stalker cs, in dx10 (i only run vista for dx10 gaming). then in xp some games are 100% fine and some arent... 3D mark 06 was giving me same thing.

my case cooling is very good as i use fan controller to push all blowing in case fans to the max when gaming. i also applied as5 to both heatsinks and keep them clean from dust. temps are about 50-60 C when gaming.

i tried turning off rivatuner but still have same problem on both os even with standart and lowered clocks.

so far i know:
- its not dx10 because problem exists in both os
- its not riva tuner
- its not overheating
- its not oc.

could someone give me some advise whether it is fixable?

THANK YOU!

Run the system with a single card and run threw the games you are finding the problems in. Then trade out the cards and do it again. If one has the problems and the other doesn't then that card's GRAM is going bad and the card needs to be replaced. If both are doing it then reistall the drivers. If none are doing it then there is an issue with SLI.

thanks alot mpilchfamily!

here is what i've done...

i started with new WHQL drivers - problem still existed and even gotten worse.
then i tried each card individually and it worked with no artifacts and acid colors like before. so that told me that the problem maybe in SLI bridge or MB. then i installed different card as master (without bridge though) and that was successful. the last test was to add a bridge - successful too (weird though).

so at the moment im still not sure what caused this problem as i dnt want to risk swapping it back as it was. it works, so i will cross fingers for a wile for now...

the only thing i've done is going with medical spirit across contactors on both cards. maybe that worked somehow - not sure.

anyways, that was a close one... i almost thought that this will cost me upgrading to a new spec i had in mind (phenom 9950, 4870x2 later in crossfire which will lead into new PSU). but that can wait as the rig i have is fully capable of any task i throw in it (gaming)

btw mpilchfamily, i followed your tail in constructing that "CM 690 Blue Mod" - i'm very impressed! i feel like grabbing some spray paint as well for a next one maybe...
